January 23, (THEWILL) – Zenith Bank Plc, one of the leading corporate supporters of sports in Nigeria, has announced ambitious plans to further boost sports in the country in 2023.
The bank, which has a long history of supporting various sports competitions, including the National Female Basketball League, has also been involved in The Delta Principal’s Cup, and the Delta Headmaster’s Cup.
In the past, the bank had also played a major role in the Under-13 and Under-15 Future Eagles competition and served as the official bank of the Nigeria Football Federation, even covering the cost of the foreign manager of the Super Eagles for several years.
According to the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, all of the major events in the bank’s sports calendar will take place in the upcoming year. Onyeagwu emphasised that it is always a pleasure for the bank to stage sporting events in support of Nigerian youths and sports in general.
He also confirmed that the budget had been allocated for all sporting events this year and that the bank remains committed to supporting sports despite any challenges posed by COVID-19 or other issues. Additionally, it is expected that social club events at Ikoyi Club and Lagos Country Club will also be held.
