The 23-year-old Super Eagles player is currently the second top scorer in Ligue 1, netting 12 times in 18 games this season. The move comes as West Ham desperately looks to add goals and points, after slipping into the relegation zone, following a 1-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Manager, David Moyes, spoke about the team’s current struggles and his job security, saying “I would never look at myself and say I’ve got credit in the bank. Lots of people are after jobs in this league. I’m not daft, I’ve had enough games in it to understand. You have to do well to keep your job. We have to try and do better than we’re doing at the moment.”
He also urged West Ham supporters to back the team, saying “What we’ve given West Ham supporters in the last few years, I hope they can give us back.”
West Ham will face fellow strugglers Everton in a crucial English Premier League clash on Saturday, as they look to end their winless league run dating back to October 24.
