October 09, (THEWILL) – The Napoli team for their Sunday Serie A match against Cremonese does not include Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, due to an overabundance of caution by the coaching team.

The hamstring injury Osimhen suffered in Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool on September 7, has kept him out of action from the Partenopeans’ previous five games. Osimhen was anticipated to rejoin the Napoli bench on Sunday not Luciano Spalletti is not quite ready to use his star attacker yet.

To avoid a relapse, the manager of the Partenopeans wants Osimhen to be fully fit before he returns. He said: “We can’t risk Victor Osimhen. We want to have him back but he needs to be in top condition. He needs more time training at a high intensity.”

However, the 23-year-old forward has not been missed by the club. Napoli has been on a winning run with Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone in top form with eight goals in Napoli’s last five games.

Napoli currently sit atop the standings in Serie A and are expected to beat the struggling Cremonese, who are now ranked 19th on the table. Yet, an upset from Cyriel Dessers and his teammates cannot be completely discarded.
