September 24, (THEWILL) – Juventus and Eintracht Frankfurt have each received fines from UEFA after the Association accused both teams of engaging in racist or discriminatory behaviour during UEFA Champions League games earlier this month.

After losing 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opening on September 6, Juventus were charged for the discriminatory actions of their fans, which were caught on camera and posted to social media. The Bianconeri have now been given a €15,000 fine and a one-year suspension of a portion of the stadium’s closure.

The following week’s Champions League trip to Marseille was disrupted by crowd disturbance, and Eintracht was charged with multiple offences as a result. But, the Bundesliga team issued a forceful statement denying any association with a person who was accused of engaging in racist behaviour and three other offences after seeming to give the Nazi salute at the State Velodrome.

UEFA imposed a total fine of €45,000 on Eintracht, as well as the same suspended punishments as Juventus.

Marseille will play their upcoming UCL games behind closed doors after their fans were charged with hurling objects, lighting fireworks, using laser pointers, causing disruptions in the crowd, and blocking public ways during the same match.
