Tributes As Amassoma Monarch Is Laid To Rest

January 14, (THEWILL) – The remains of the Amananaowei of Amassoma, retired Major Graham Pele-Ebimo Naingba, JP, Oboro VII, has been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Okolobo-Ama amidst tributes and eulogies on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Speaking at the burial ceremony conducted at Government Secondary School Amassoma field, Governor Douye Diri represented by the Commissioner for Local Government Administration and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bayelsa State, Chief Thompson Amule, said “we have no control over our lives”, stressing that death is a necessary end to human existence.

He informed that Major Naingba served the country meritoriously as a soldier, retired and assumed the leadership of Amassoma as a traditional ruler while stating that it is gratifying to note that he did not die at the front line of service and lived up to 75 years of impactful life.

The Bayelsa helmsman advised the Naingba family, the entire Amassoma and the Ogboin Ebe to take solace in the fact that the late monarch lived a life worthy of emulation that will inspire generations yet unborn.

Speaking on the topic “Fear God”, RT. Rev. (Dr.) Nixon Akpotunumubofa Enekeme, Bishop Diocese of Niger Delta West Anglican Communion, advised the living to fear God, noting that the life we live is a borrowed one given to us by God.

Quoting Psalm 90:6, Bishop Enekeme informed that life is like grass that blossoms in the morning and is cut down in the evening.

Also quoting Job 19:25 and Ecclesiastes 12:13, RT. Rev.( Dr.) Nixon Akpotunumubofa Enekeme stated that life starts from the day we were born and urged those alive to fear and appreciate God for His mercies and goodness upon us, adding that when we fear God we will enjoy His abundant blessings.

He described the late monarch as a gallant soldier, great leader, loving husband and father, who came, saw and conquered. He enjoined the deceased children and other family members to be strong and joyful that the memories of their father will continue to linger on as long as life exists.

Speaking further, he advised the living not to die as sinners but to give their lives to Christ to have eternal life.

He also warned youths not to bear arms for politicians to cause mayhem as the 2023 election draws near but use their PVCs to vote for credible leaders that will engender all-around development in the country.

In their separate tributes while speaking to Journalists at the funeral, the Acting Amananaowei of Amassoma, HRH Godwill Akedesuo; the Odion R’ode of Uwheru, HRH Simpson Sapele Obruche, represented by High Chief Ogarivi Utso; Chief Abel Ebifemowei, former Director General NAPTIP; Barrister Julie Donli Okar, Hon. Felix Bonny Ayah, Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei described the departed monarch as a disciplinarian, a courageous and brilliant soldier, who brought his wealth of experience garnered over the years at retirement to offer credible and purposeful leadership in Amassoma during his reign as the Amananaowei, which they stated, engendered peaceful coexistence in the communities and development.
