Sunshine Stars Aim For Top Three Finish In 2022/2023 NPFL Season

January 23, (THEWILL) – Sunshine Stars Football Club is determined to finish the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season in the top three positions, according to Tunde Ogunja, the club’s chairman.

Speaking recently, Ogunja said that despite the season still being in its early stages, the team is working towards securing a spot on the continent next season.

The Akure-based team recently played a 1-1 draw against Rangers International FC of Enugu in their Match Day 3 fixture. Despite the outcome, Ogunja praised the performance of his players, describing them as youthful and promising. He also highlighted the impressive play of the team’s goalkeeper, Mustapha Lawal, who saved a crucial penalty kick in the 89th minute to keep the scores level.

Sunshine Stars are currently in 8th place in Group B of the 2022/2023 NPFL season with three points from three games. However, Ogunja remains optimistic about the team’s chances and is looking forward to an outright win in their next home match.

As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see if Sunshine Stars can achieve their goal of finishing in the top three and playing continental football in the subsequent season.
