January 17, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly in talks with Sporting CP over a potential deal for Pedro Porro, a right wing-back.
The London-based club is looking to reinforce its squad as they aim to improve their domestic form. Head coach Antonio Conte is known for his three-at-the-back system, which requires pacy wing-backs, a position that the current squad lacks.
Porro had previously played well in two UEFA Champions League outings against Spurs earlier this season. Sporting has stated that they will only sell Porro if his €45m release clause is met. Tottenham is reportedly unwilling to pay that sum upfront and would prefer to pay it over several instalments.
However, not all members of the Sporting hierarchy are in agreement with this condition. Tottenham is also considering other targets before the transfer deadline on January 31, including Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and Wolves’ out-of-contract Adama Traore.
