January 26, (THEWILL) – Sokoto State All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Candidate, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has promised to provide purposeful leadership if elected as governor in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Aliyu stated this at the party’s gubernatorial campaign flag-off and presentation of party flag held at Wamakko town, in Wamakko Local Government Area of the state.

He said the absence of good governance is responsible for insecurity, poor economy, and wanton decay of structures in public schools across the state.

He promised to return financial autonomy to the Local Government Councils in the state as well as curb crimes and bring the needed grassroots development across all LGAs.

“My administration will give adequate attention to the physically challenged through a policy that will attend to the needs of such a class of people,” he started.

He condemned the PDP-led administration in the state for its inability to fulfil one-third of its 2015 and 2019 campaign promises made to the electorates in the state.

“The people of Sokoto state have never had it so bad as in the last eight years of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration,” he said, adding that the state has been backwards in all ramifications statistically.

“If APC is given the mandate to govern the state, we’ll definitely change the narrative for the better. As governor, I will inject life into the state civil service, which has since been bastardized,” he added, noting that civil servants in the state have been demoralized with little or no passion for the job.

The Director General of the APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council and Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, said he is optimistic that victory is on the side of the party in the forthcoming polls.

He said the APC is on a thank-you visit to the electorates for their support and loyalty to the party leadership over the years.

Dingyadi further stated that despite eight years out of governance, the APC supporters remain intact, adding that APC would continue to champion the cause of the people of the state by providing meaningful development that would improve their quality of life.

On his part, the APC leader and Senator, Sokoto Central Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, urged eligible Nigerians on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Cards and elect all APC candidates in the general elections.

“The presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmad, is the only answer for Nigerians if they need good governance,” he stated, adding that insecurity, joblessness, and hunger are enough reasons to remove PDP from the act of governance in the state.

Earlier in his address, the state Party Chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadeeq Achida, expressed delight with the large turnout of supporters at the campaign venue.

He said what he saw is testimony that APC supporters in the state were very eager to reclaim their stolen mandate. “What happens in 2019 will never happen again as we have put all machinery in motion with a view to ensure that the forthcoming elections in the state are free and fair,” he said.
