Senate Honours Slain Niger Catholic Priest Isaac Achi

January 25, (THEWILL) – The Senate, on Wednesday, observed a minute silence in honour of the slain Niger catholic priest, Rev. Fr Isaac Achi.

On January 15, 2023, Fr. Achi was burnt to death in his parish house at St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin-koro in Paikoro local government of Niger State by suspected bandits.

The bandits also razed the parish house and injured another Priest, Reverend Father Collins.

He was until his untimely death, the Kafin Koro Deanery, Minna Diocese of Niger State and the Reverend Father in charge of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin Koro.

His death re-echoed in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly on Wednesday, when Senators observed a minute of silence in his honour.

The development followed the consideration of a motion moved at plenary by Senator Sani Musa (APC – Niger East).

The Senate also commiserated with the family of the deceased and the Bishop of Minna Diocese.
