November 17, (THEWILL) – The charity BigShoe and Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, have partnered to provide 120 life-altering operations for kids in Nigeria.
Saka, who is currently with the England squad at the World Cup in Qatar, says he wants to make a difference in the nation he feels “very connected to.” While BigShoe is a charity that assists underprivileged kids, who require major medical procedures.
Of the 120 children in Kano, Nigeria, most had medical conditions including inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias or brain tumours, and they were all beneficiaries of the funded surgeries courtesy of Saka.
The 21-year-old said: “I feel blessed to be in a position where I can contribute to making the children’s lives easier and better through these surgeries. I still feel very connected to Nigeria. For me, it is very important to use my abilities to have a positive impact where I can and I have to say a big thank you to the whole BigShoe team for making this possible.”
The youngsters were treated and cared for by a group of five doctors. The operations, which took place in the middle of October, were successful, and individuals involved are now on the mend and have greater future prospects. BigShoe has assisted more than 1,600 kids worldwide since its founding in 2006.
