October 13, (THEWILL) – A non-governmental organisation, the Royal People’s Platform (RPP), has lauded the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for promising major infrastructural developments before the end of his tenure in 2023.

The projects, according to a report credited to the president, include the Second Niger Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano expressway, and the East West road.

The report reads thus: “President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Abuja assured Nigerians that the 11.9km Second Niger Bridge, 120 km Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and other key projects under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) will be completed within the second term of this administration.

“The President gave the assurance at the opening of a two-day Mid-Term Ministerial Performance Review Retreat organized to assess progress made towards the achievement of the nine key priorities of this Administration.

“He used the occasion of the retreat, the third edition since the second term of his administration, to highlight some of the Federal Government’s notable achievements in the last two years.

“He listed accomplishments in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, economy, electricity supply, the petroleum industry, among others.

‘‘On transportation, we are growing the stock and quality of our road, rail, air and water transport infrastructure.

‘‘The PIDF projects are also advancing remarkably. These include the 11.9km Second Niger Bridge, 120 km Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, 375 km Abuja – Kaduna – Zaria – Kano Expressway and the East West Road. Most of these projects are expected to be completed within this 2nd term of our Administration.”

The RPP leader, Prince Dare Aladekoba, praised the Buhari administration for the information and expressed confidence in the competence of the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).

According to Aladekoba, “since it was the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, that would be in charge of the project under President Buhari, we have no cause to doubt him because he is a man with the Midas touch,” observing that, “President Muhammadu Buhari must have Fashola behind his mind when announcing the completion date for the major projects.”

The NGO boss added that Fashola has constantly passed the integrity tests conducted by the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), under the leadership of a renowned activist and public commentator, Comrade Razaq Olokoba.

“If the President has assured that the projects mentioned would be ready before his last day in office in 2023, one should trust him with Fashola’s loyalty to him over his desire to leave Nigeria better than he met it in 2015 as President, saying, “the President’s assurance could be swallowed hook, line and sinker,” Aladekoba said.
