December 14, (THEWILL) – Endrick, who will be heading to Real Madrid when he turns 18, had to delete a tweet in which he praised Lionel Messi after the post was criticised by fans of the Spanish club.
As THEWILL previously reported, Real Madrid and Palmeiras recently finalised arrangements that would see the young striker transfer to Spain in 2024. Although the 16-year-old drew interest from Chelsea and PSG as well, Los Blancos was always his first option, and they ultimately came to an agreement that will cost them more than €70 million if taxes are taken into account.
Fans were thrilled when Endrick decided to sign with Real, but they were not quite as enthusiastic about the Brazilian on Tuesday night, after Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Croatia in the World Cup semifinal. Longtime rival, Lionel Messi, stole the show with a goal and an incredible assist.
Endrick later praised him on Twitter, posting in his native language alongside an emoji of an alien: “Messi is absurd man.”
Given the years he spent competing against their side while playing for Barcelona, the Argentina captain is not the most well-liked player among Real Madrid supporters and that is putting it mildly. Given this, Endrick’s supporters were not overly thrilled with his tweet and chastised the forward for it.
He deleted it as a result of the outrage, but not before it had drawn hundreds of comments, many of which criticised Real Madrid supporters for their actions.
