September 13, (THEWILL) – Marcus Rashford missed training on Monday, and is doubtful for Manchester United’s Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol.
The Red Devils unexpectedly lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford in their opening Group E meeting last week, and they now face table-topping Sheriff, who romped to a 3-0 victory over Omonia on matchday one.
Rashford, who along with Jadon Sancho, is in line for an England return, might not play in the game in Moldova, though, after he missed United’s most recent training session.
The 24-year-old, who has already scored three Premier League goals this season after regaining some of his earlier form, was a key player in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal just before the football season was put on hold, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
The match between United and Sheriff will go on as scheduled on Thursday, in Moldova, but their Premier League match against Leeds United on Sunday has already been cancelled due to police shortages as THEWILL reported. Although it is unclear whether Rashford is injured or whether his absence from practice was preventative, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to start again on Thursday, in an effort to reclaim a spot in Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup.
