January 14, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri, the African champion and 15th-ranked player in the world, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis contender competition in Durban, South Africa.
He defeated Chinese player, Sun When, in the Round of 32, then French player, Felix Lebrun, in a close match that ended 3-2. The tournament, which has a prize money of $75,000 and awards 400 ranking points to the winner, ends on January 15th.
In the women’s category, Egypt’s Dina Meshref, Africa’s number one player, is also competing.
