June 06, (THEWILL) – The race for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has created division in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, THEWILL reports.
Progressives governors from the northern part of the country, had on Saturday, called for a power shift to the South, but findings by THEWILL revealed that some persons close to the Presidency appeared to favour the presidential ticket of Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
According to our multiple sources, the Aso Rock Cabal are strongly rooting for Lawan to clinch the APC presidential ticket.
Our findings further revealed that the NWC of the party is also divided over power shift.
While the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, who is opposed to power shifting to the South, is leading support for Lawan’s candidacy, Iyiola Omisore, the party’s Secretary has maintained a strong opposition to a Northern presidency.
The presidential primary proper of the APC starts tomorrow at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
