January 23, (THEWILL) – Barcelona secured a 1-0 victory over Getafe at Camp Nou on Saturday, enough to keep them at the top of La Liga for another week.

The lone goal of the match came in the first half, scored by Pedri with a low shot in the middle of the penalty area after connecting with Raphinha’s cross from the left.

Getafe had a goal ruled out just a couple of minutes into the game when Borja Mayoral, followed in a rebound after a save from Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside position from Enes Unal before the shot.

Despite this early setback, Getafe carved out some good chances, with Ter Stegen making a big save just before half-time to deny Mayoral a potential equaliser. Barcelona had the lion’s share of possession as expected, but Getafe continued to threaten in the second half.

Franck Kessie had the chance to ensure the win for Barcelona before the end, but David Soria was able to make the save. On Wednesday, Barca will host Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey competition while Getafe will not play until Saturday when they welcome Real Betis to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
