January 27, (THEWILL) – Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has described the judgement of the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo as “a miscarriage of justice.”

Reacting to the verdict of the Tribunal, Adeleke said he would appeal the judgement, insisting he remains the rightful winner of the July 16 election.

“I call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done.

“Let our people be reassured that we will do everything possible to retain this widely acclaimed mandate,” Governor Adeleke declared.

THEWILL reports that the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal, on Friday, declared Gboyega Oyetola, as the winner of the July 16 governorship election in the State.

A lead judgement read by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Tertsea Kume, said the governorship election did not comply with the electoral act.

He added that there was indeed over-voting in six Local Government Areas in the state.

In a split judgement of two to one, the Tribunal said Oyetola scored the majority lawful votes of 314,931 against Adeleke’s 219,666.
