BEVERLY HILLS, December 14, (THEWILL) – Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is set to return to action for the Naples side before the end of 2020, following a report in Football Italia.
The 21-year-old Nigerian forward has been sidelined for more than a month after dislocating his shoulder while representing Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in November.
In a Saturday morning publication, Italian newspaper Il Mattino claimed that Osimhen will not be back for the Neapolitans before 2021, ruling him out of their December 13 tie against Sampdoria, the December 16 fixture with Internazionale, the December 20 clash with Lazio and upcoming match on December 23 against Torino.
However, Football Italia quoted Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba, who had been in contact with the Super Eagles player as saying: “I spoke with him now and he says he is fine and should feature in a game before the end of the year.”
This is in line with the expectations of Amaju Melvin Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who was on record to have said, after Osimhen returned to physiotherapy in Napoli, that medical tests revealed that the Napoli striker would be back on the pitch in no time.
Osimhen has scored two goals and provided one assist from six Serie A appearances in the 2020-21 season.
