February 13, (THEWILL) – Some unidentified armed thugs, have invaded and attacked a residence of popular Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, located in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo state.

The thugs who came in large numbers, engaged in a fierce fight with some of Igboho’s supporters, who were in the house, leading to the death of one of his supporters.

One of Sunday Igboho’s aides, Onaolapo Ademola Omiyale, confirmed the incident during a live Facebook broadcast.

According to Omiyale, the armed thugs stormed the residence at about 3pm on Saturday afternoon.

He added that the attack was aimed at those supporting the embattled yoruba activist.

“Soka Junction, Sanyo, Academy, Oremeji is currently under attack, they are attacking anyone wearing Yoruba Nation Vest and Igboho’s face caps”, he said.

Igboho’s lead lawyer, Yomi Alliyu (SAN), who also confirmed the attack on the House, said the armed hoodlums stormed Igboho’s residence and inflicted machete cuts on his loyalists, which resulted in the death of one of them, explaining that the hoodlums attacked the same house of the agitator, which the Department of State Services (DSS) invaded on July 1, 2021.

The attack is coming amid the continued detention of Igboho in Benin Republic.

Igboho, who is in detention in Cotonou, in the Reublic of Benin, was arrested at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, while on his way to Germany in July, 2021.

He was arrested shortly after his soka residence was invaded by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Igboho has since been facing trial at a court in Benin for alleged immigration offences.
