BEVERLY HILLS, March 01, (THEWILL) – Ondo State has outlawed the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in all motor parks.
Both unions were warned to stop collecting dues and levies from commercial drivers in the state.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale, said the ban of the drivers’ unions’ activities was due to their being rocked by leadership tussles.
Announcing that new tickets would be sold directly by government officials, the statement urged commercial drivers to revert to the old price of N50 per drop.
