January 02, (THEWILL) – Bose Odusanya and Muiz Adegoke emerged victorious at the 54th annual Molade Okoya-Thomas Table Tennis Championships, held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Odusanya won the female category by defeating Anu Anjuwon 4-0, to continue her title-winning streak (11-5, 11-5, 11-5, 1–6). Adegoke defeated Rilwan Akanbi in the semi-finals to take the male category title after defeating the former champion 4-2 (11-7, 15-13, 11-6, 8-11, 6-11, 11-6).

Odusanya attributed her success to hard work and faith, saying, “It is not by my power and I was not even feeling fine playing in this year’s tournament…I always set my goal very high and put God first. So, I believe it is God that helped me to win this tournament every year.”

Adegoke, on the other hand, credited his victory to his participation in the National Sports Festival (NSF), stating, “I hope to play in this tournament next year and win.”

The head of the Okoya-Thomas family, Ayodeji Okoya-Thomas, praised Adegoke’s victory and expressed hopes for an even grander tournament in the future.

He said: “We hope we can have a grandeur tournament in the next edition since it will be 55th edition. It’s always a tradition to make every five year different.”
