January 12, (THEWILL) – Governor Samuel Ortom has advised Benue people to ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), to enable them vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the 2023 general elections.
The governor threw the challenge on Thursday, during the party’s rally in Ugba, the headquarters of Logo Local Government Area of the state, while flagging off the governorship campaign, in which Titus Uba and John Ngbede are candidate and running mate.
“If you fail to collect your PVCs, you will disenfranchise yourselves, thereby not voting for our dear party which is also your party.
“I encourage you to vote en masse for all the PDP candidates and you should not allow yourselves to be deceived by candidates of other political parties because they do not have anything to offer”, Ortom said.
Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate in Benue, Mr Titus Uba, appreciated the people for praying for his quick recovery during his medical vacation in Germany, stressing that God healed him because of their prayers.
Uba, who is the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, said that Senator Gabriel Suswam, had done great things for the people of the Benue North East Senatorial District and they were speaking volumes in favour of PDP, therefore, there was no need to worry about the outcome of the forthcoming elections.
“I am confident that all the PDP candidates in the state will surely win their elections”, Uba said.
In his speech, senator Suswam urged the people of the area to rally round Uba and other PDP candidates to ensure victory in the forthcoming general elections.
He disclosed that Uba’s mother was their sister and they should stand with him because if he becomes the governor, they would benefit immensely.
Suswam charged the people of the area not to vote candidates that would start learning the workings of government, stressing that Uba had the capacity and experience because he held the position of Speaker of the state assembly for several years therefore, governance would not be new to him.
The Guest Speaker, Mr Demenongo Unom, admonished the people to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Fr Hyacinth Alia, because he had never condemned the killings of Benue people by the Fulani herdsmen.
The Director General, Uba/Ngbede Campaign Organisation, Dr Cletus Tyokyaa, expressed optimism that Benue people would vote massively for all the PDP candidates in the state.
It will be recalled that the PDP governorship candidate, Titus Uba Wednesday, unveiled his Blueprint tagged, ‘Soil As our Oil”, and pledged to place priority on security and agriculture if voted into power.
The campaign train Williams later move to Katsina-Ala and Ukum local government areas with the visit to Kwande, Ushongo and Vandeikya on Friday.
