January 18, (THEWILL) – British tennis player, Cameron Norrie, has advanced to the third round of the Australian Open after a hard-fought match against Constant Lestienne.
The match was held in rainy conditions, and Lestienne’s casual attitude on the court drew jeers from the crowd. In the first set, Norrie earned his third love hold of the match and broke Lestienne to clinch the set in 41 minutes.
The second set saw Lestienne become more aggressive in his play, and despite Norrie’s best efforts, Lestienne took the set. In the third set, Lestienne took an early lead, but Norrie managed to hold serve and convert his first break-point opportunity of the match to force a tie-break. Norrie ultimately took the third set with the help of two aces.
In the fourth set, Norrie kept his cool and sealed the victory on his second-match point. Next, he will face Jiri Lehecka, who defeated Christopher Eubanks, to secure a spot in the fourth round.
