September 24, (THEWILL) – In a Friday test match against Algeria’s “B” team, the Super Eagles rallied from a goal down to force a 2-2 draw.

The Eagles, who were down 1-0 at the break against a subpar Algerian team getting ready for the African Nations Championships (CHAN), came out firing in the second half to finish level, with substitutes Alex Iwobi and Cyriel Dessers finding the equaliser.

The game on Friday, was initially scheduled to feature the home teams of Algeria and Nigeria, but the Super Eagles team decided to use the window as a test match because the CHAN Eagles were unable to earn a spot in the competition for next year.

Jose Peseiro used the chance to put some of the new players through their paces. Raphael Onyedika and Ebube Duru received unofficial debuts and were impressive enough for a chance to play against the Desert Foxes on Tuesday.

That fixture between the two-time African champions and the Eagles will be just the second friendly encounter between the pair. In the first one, in October 2020, the North Africans defeated Nigeria 1-0 in Austria.
