Zero Guests As New Lawyers File Out For Call-To-Bar In Abuja

July 22, (THEWILL) – The Body of Benchers, Nigeria, the body responsible for the regulation of law education, has scheduled July 27 to 29 as the Call-to-Bar ceremony for successful students who sat for the December 2020 and March 2021 Bar final examinations of the Nigerian Law School (NLS).

The body said, in a notice to all its members and “aspirants to the Bar,” that, as part of coronavirus control measures, parents and guardians of the students are barred from the event, which would be held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The notice however, said that the ceremony will be streamed live on national television and on Youtube.

The notice, signed by its Secretary, Daniel Manasseh Esq, reads in part: “All attendees are required to maintain physical distance and adhere to all protocols on preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus such as the use of facemask and hand sanitisers.

“We regret to inform the parents/guardians of the aspirants and the general public that the ceremony is strictly for the aspirants, hence no guest will be allowed in.

“However, there will be live coverage of the ceremony on national television and live streaming on Youtube.

“Aspirants should note that they are required to be seated by 8.30am as the gates will be closed afterwards.”
