SAN FRANCISCO, May 14, (THEWILL) – Police spokesman, Frank Mba, has revealed that Nigerians have the right to search policemen in certain situations when the officers are about to carry out inspections.
Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, made this disclosure via the verified Twitter handle of the force saying a person, in a bit to allay fears, can politely request to search an officer before he or she is being searched.
“You may politely request that the officer be searched before searching you. Often times, this helps to allay fears that someone may be trying to ‘plant’ incriminating items on you or implicate you in any other way,” he tweeted @PoliceNG.
Mba added that individuals also have the right to demand to know the reason for their arrest whenever an arrest is about to be made.
