Women’s Super League Inducts Carney, Aluko, Chapman Into Hall Of Fame

October 27, (THEWILL) – The Women’s Super League Hall of Fame, has officially welcomed the newest members: Karen Carney, Eni Aluko, and Katie Chapman.

The three England internationals were honoured for their efforts both on and off the field to advance women’s soccer. They follow in the footsteps of Fara Williams and Rachel Yankey, who joined the exclusive club last year, together with Kelly Smith and Emma Hayes, the manager of Chelsea.

Known as “The Wizard,” Carney had a distinguished career that included nine seasons in the WSL with Chelsea and her local team Birmingham City, as well as a brief stint at Arsenal. At the end of the 2019 World Cup, Carney ended her Lionesses career, meaning she holds the third-highest appearance record for England in history with 144 caps.

Aluko started out with Birmingham, before having stints with Charlton Athletic and Chelsea. It was until her return to Chelsea in 2012, that she recorded the most success and won two WSL championships and two Women’s FA Cups. After representing England more than 100 times, she announced her retirement in January 2020, while at Juventus.

Chapman achieved a number of accolades throughout her career and contributed significantly in central midfield for each of the teams she played for, including Arsenal and Chelsea. She won three Continental Tyres League Cups, four FA Cups, and four league championships in the seven years she spent playing in the WSL.
