BEVERLY HILLS, May 16, (THEWILL) – Security agents have arrested some of the gunmen alleged to have carried out the recent attacks on security formations in the Rivers state.
Rivers State’s Governor Nyesom Wike announced their capture in a broadcast on Saturday evening.
He, however, he did not give further information on the arrest of the suspects.
The Governor also announced the relaxation of the curfew time in Port Harcourt Local Government, and Obio-Akpor, another metropolitan council near the state capital.
Wike said the starting time for the curfew, in both local governments, would now be 8:30pm, as against the initial 7pm.
Between April 24 and May 7, five soldiers, 11 policemen and three customs officials were killed in separate attacks at checkpoints and police stations in Rivers State.
The attacks had prompted the state Governor to impose a curfew across the 23 local government areas of the state as extra security measures in the light of the attacks.
