July 25, (THEWILL) – The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Idris Maje Wase, has said that economic impetus associated with mining activities, especially in the Wase area of Plateau South, are responsible for the rising wave of crime in the area.

Wase noted that mining activities do not only boost socio-economic life of the affected community, but come with some negative tendencies such as crime because of the different characters of people with various levels of exposure attracted to the place.

Representing Wase Federal Constituency, Hon Wase made the remarks following spate of attacks on different communities in the area by bandits that have led to loss of lives and disruption of peace and economic activities.
