BEVERLY HILLS, May 20, (THEWILL) – One of the most impressive players in the Villarreal side this season, Samuel Chukwueze, has handed the Spanish side a massive boost ahead of their next week’s UEFA Europa League final clash against English Premier League side Manchester United.
The Nigerian international who missed two weeks of squad activities for the Yellow Submarines after picking up a muscle injury in their second leg semi-final draw against Arsenal in Europe’s second tier football competition.
The diagnosis led to the conclusion that the sensational winger will be out for a month, which would have directly ruled him out of the showpiece against the Red Devils in next week’s final.
Fortunately, Chukwueze was pictured in training this morning with the rest of the Villarreal squad. The 21-year-old also shared some pictures of himself in training on his Instagram stories which confirmed his return.
Although the Villarreal manager Unai Emery revealed that Chukwueze was a doubt for the league clash against Real Madrid on Saturday, the return of the Nigerian has lifted hopes for his return to action. That may have been behind Emery’s confirmation that he could feature against United on Wednesday in the Europa final.
A fit Chukwueze will be a massive boost to Villarreal’s chances of causing an upset and affirming Emery’s status at the undisputed King of the Europa League, once and for all. Chukwueze had been truly creative this season, with five assists and one goal in the Europa League this season.
If he plays, there is every chance he could add to that stat and bring the trophy home to Spain.
