November 22, (THEWILL) – Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen will undergo surgery in the coming days or damage to his eye socket and cheekbone, according to a statement on Napoli’s official website.
The 22-year-old did not return with the team to Naples following their 3-2 loss to Inter Milan on Sunday evening. He stayed behind because he was being monitored by specialists at a Milan hospital.
As THEWILL reported, Osimhen had to be replaced ten minutes into the second half after suffering a nasty injury in a head-to-head collision with Nerazzurri defender Milan Skriniar.
Medical scans revealed that the striker had a cracked eye socket and cheekbone, and it is expected that his time on the sidelines would be determined by how well the surgery and rehabilitation proceed.
An initial prognosis suggested Osimhen will be sidelined for at least one month, meaning he will not be available to boss Luciano Spalletti until the match against Spezia on December 22.
Following the news that Osimhen had a damaged eye socket and cheekbone, Milan offered some support in a message addressed to the Nigerian. The Nerazzurri wished the Super Eagles attacker a speedy recovery on social media and hoped to see him back on the pitch soon.
