BEVERLY HILLS, May 25, (THEWILL) – Sequel to the recalcitrant attitude of a trio of European clubs to their membership of the breakaway European Super League, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has begun disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus over their roles in the collapsed League.

In an announcement from the European football governing body, this could result in heavy and considerable penalties against Spanish titans Barca and Madrid and Italian heavyweights Juventus, the three of whom issued a statement earlier this month sticking to their guns.

UEFA said in a statement: “Following an investigation conducted by UEFA ethics and disciplinary inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework.

“Further information will be made available in due course.”

THEWILL recalls that in the second week of this month, the three clubs issued a joint statement sticking to the Super League, while claiming to be under “unacceptable” pressure and threats from all corners. THEWILL will provide the details as they are revealed from the ethics and disciplinary inspectors.
