October 28, (THEWILL) – The delegation of Tanzania’s U-23 men’s national team, billed to contend against Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles in a crucial U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Ibadan on Saturday, has arrived Nigeria.

The team is currently lodged at the expansive city’s Carlton Gate Hotel and the players and crew are eager to experience the Lekan Salami Stadium field on Friday night.

It is a game where goals are needed to separate the teams after their 1-1 tie in the first leg played last Saturday, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The winner will face the winner of the game between Uganda and Guinea in the ultimate round prior to the continental finals, which are scheduled to take place in Morocco in 13 months.

The Nigeria Football Federation, the Sports Ministry and the State government have completed all preparations and match officials from Togo are also on ground. Coach Salisu Yusuf believes his team is ready for a convincing victory when the whistle blows for kick-off at 4PM on Saturday.

He said: “We went to Tanzania to win, but it was just not possible. The boys really worked hard and I must commend them for their efforts. However, we have been working hard on our weak points and believe we will get the job done on Saturday.”
