Two Directors Obey SEC Directive, Resign From Oando Board

SAN FRANCISCO, June 7, (THEWILL) – Two non-Executive Directors have resigned from the board of embattled indigenous oil company, Oando Plc.

Chief Sena Anthony and Mr. Oghogho Akpata, according to an Oando statement Friday to the Nigerian Stock Exchange resigned effective June 3, 2019.

Their resignation followed the directive of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, which sacked the board of the company as well as Wale Tinubu and Omamofe Boyo, the group CEO and Deputy Group CEO respectively, over multiple infringements.

Oando, which denied any wrongdoing, sued SEC and got a judge to temporarily block their sack.

“Notification of the Resignations of Non- Executive Directors Oando PLC hereby notifies the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), its valued shareholders, key stakeholders and the public of the resignations of its Non-Executive Directors, Chief Sena Anthony and Mr. Oghogho Akpata from the Board of Directors of Oando PLC, with effect from June 3, 2019.

“Chief Sena Anthony and Mr. Oghogho Akpata were active members of the Board and its subcommittees. The Board and Management of Oando PLC appreciates their valuable contributions to the growth of the Company,” the Oando said.
