June 02, (THEWILL) – Tunisia thrashed ten-man Equatorial Guinea 4-0 in Rades to get off to a flying start in the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday.
Nam Sliti was the match’s hero, scoring one goal and assisting on two more to lead the Carthage Eagles to a resounding victory over the Equatoguineans.
Sliti ultimately broke the match’s deadlock eleven minutes after the break to give Tunisia a merited lead. Spain-based midfielder Joan Lopez Elo picked up a second yellow in the 71st minute and Equatorial Guinea was reduced to 10 men.
Tunisia doubled their lead in the 77th minute when Sliti set up Seifeddine Jaziri for a header, and three minutes later Youssef Msakni came off the bench to add another goal. Msakni struck five minutes from time to seal the victory for the home side with a result that sees Tunisia replace Libya to take top place of Group J on goal difference.
