Trouble for Naira Marley As Court Admits More Evidence In Ongoing Trial

BEVERLY HILLS, January 27, (THEWILL) – Justice Nicolas Oweibo, the presiding judge of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State, has admitted more exhibits as evidence against controversial Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola aka ‘Naira Marley’. The controversial singer is standing trial on a 11- count charge of money laundering and Internet fraud.

Justice Nicolas Oweibo in his ruling on Wednesday stated that the Compact Disk containing the phone analysis of the singer tendered in evidence by the second prosecution witness, Anosike Augustine, has been admitted in evidence before.

Judge Oweibo overruled the objection of Naira Marley’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo (SAN) and stated that the CD in evidence marked exhibit ‘F’.

Oweibo said: “l have considered the agreement of both parties as well as the ground for the objection, I consider the CD to be admissible in view of the nature of this case and the evidence of other prosecution witnesses.”

Justice Oweibo later adjourned the case to 18th and 11th of March, 2021 because the defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo, was not in court.

THEWILL recalls that EFCC arraigned Naira Marley last year on 11 counts of money laundering and Internet fraud.

According to the anti-graft agency, some of the credit cards found at the home of the singer bore the names Nicole Louise Malyon and Timea Fedorne Tatar.
