THEWILL gathered that around 6 a.m, the terror group came in about 10 gun-trucks and attacked the military facility in Damboa, but met stiff resistance.

Military sources said the insurgents came through Sabon Gari area of the town but were overpowered by the troops.

Several of the terrorists were also killed in the attack, a development that forced them into retreat through Sandia village.

The source added that about six civilians were however wounded during the incident.

In October, ISWAP insurgents in gun trucks and improvised armoured vehicles burnt outposts of the Nigerian Mobile Police and Civilian Joint Task Force.

On Saturday, ISWAP conducted a raid in Askira about 63 km from Damboa, destroying a telecommunication mast, buildings and vehicles, and looting food supplies.

The terror group also targeted the reinforcements contingent from Chibok resulting in the death of an Army Brigadier General, Dzarma Zirkusu and three soldiers.

The troops in the area were able to push back the attack with the support of two A-29 and five Alpha jet aircraft.
