October 5, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur were denied the opportunity to climb atop Group D of the UEFA Champions League when Eintracht Frankfurt held them to a goalless draw in Tuesday’s fixture at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt.

Antonio Conte’s team had a wasted day in Germany, managing just two shots on goal out of 11 attempts. Harry Kane and Heung-min Son came the closest, but for the first time since the 2016/2017 campaign, they have now failed to score in back-to-back UCL group games.

Both teams have four points after three games and are two points behind Sporting CP, who are currently leading Group D after Marseille’s 4-1 thumping of the Portuguese powerhouse.

With four points and a goal difference of zero, Spurs are now second in the group. Even though Eintracht has four points, they are in third place due to their -2 goal difference. Both teams will be vying for a spot in the round of 16 when they meet again next week at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Before that, Frankfurt will play VFL Bochum back in the Bundesliga on Saturday, the same day that Spurs are away to Brighton and Hove Albion in the EPL, where they will be looking to recover some ground after their 3-1 north London derby loss to Arsenal.
