Toke, Her Non-Existent Banana Island House And Police Investigation

BEVERLY HILLS, August 3, (THEWILL) – For over two years, radio personality Toke Makinwa encouraged and covertly promoted a false narrative on social media that she owned a home in highbrow Banana Island, Ikoyi and actually lived in the house allegedly bought for her by her alleged sugar daddy, Festus Adebiyi, whose assets were recently seized by the AMCON over bad debts of about N240 billion.

However, the bubble busted for her when reports emerged on social media that she had been evicted from her “Banana Island home” by AMCON. Her trolls and haters on social media have pummeled her since then, forcing Ms. Makinwa to retreat and come out clean.

After threatening to sue newspapers, news websites and blogs over the reports last week, today, she again reacted out of frustration to the controversy, saying police authorities are now investigating the origin of claims regarding repossession of her house by Asset Management Company of Nigeria.

In another series of tweets, she said she is the sole owner of a house in Lekki even though we had reported earlier that she lives in a yard with a cluster of units on Bank Road in Ikoyi.

She wrote: “The account that started the vicious rumor here deleted the tweets but I have reported to the police and an investigation is going on as I type, things are going to get very interesting.

“The energy you put into spreading false stories should be the same energy you use to clarify and retract the same stories but over the years I have become an easy target and this has to stop.

“I have a legal team and a management team who are capable and are working to have me focused on other aspects of my life. Perhaps, you gather your coins cos I’ll buy that house in Banana Island.

“But today, as a person, it just feels right to really express myself. And I am going to do just that. My mental health is key, my growth as a creative, my life. I get that we all love a good joke.

“We love to have a laugh, take the stress off most times. It’s been a heavy year all round. But certain things have gone all too long because I have ignored it most time. My legacy is important to me.

“I have given 10 years of my life working in the media, I know how important the media is but last week looking at what the media has become made me feel ashamed, has it really come to this?”
