Three Killed In Anambra Road Crash

February 08, (THEWILL) – Three persons died on Monday while three others sustained varying degrees of injury in an auto accident along Onitsha-Ayamelum road in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The crash, which occurred around 5:20pm, involved two vehicles, a Toyota Sienna and motorcycle.

Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, Adeoye Irelewuyi, who confirmed the incident in Awka on Tuesday, said six male adults were involved in the accident, which was caused by excessive speed.

He said: “A Fatal Road traffic crash took place opposite Austin Farm by Onitsha-Ayamelum road today 7th February 2022 at about 17:20hours

“The crash was between two vehicles: an unidentified commercial driver of a whiteToyota Sienna with registration number: ABN504SZ, and an identified driver of a private motorcycle with no registration number. Driver’s name: Okwudili Okeke.

“An eyewitness report indicates that the driver of the Sienna was on top speed while trying to avoid an incoming motorcycle. He hit another motorcycle beside him while on motion, somersaulted and crashed into the bush.

“The crash involved 6 male adults. 3male adults lost their lives while 3 male adults were injured.

“The injured were rushed to a nearby Health center by FRSC personnel Ayamelum Station Office and some good Samaritans where 3 male adults were confirmed dead.”

Irelewuyi said the bodies of the victims were deposited at the mortuary.
