May 23, (THEWILL) – Formula One driver, Sebastian Vettel, was a victim of a robbery incident after the Spanish Grand Prix.
Outside of Vettel’s Barcelona hotel, a group of criminals snatched his suitcase, according to Aston Martin. The four-time winner then attempted to locate the valuables using the GPS from a pair of headphones in the bag, but he discovered the earbuds had been stolen from the bag and left behind by the burglars.
Vettel attempted to locate his suitcase using a scooter, but did not make much success. His team at Aston Martin issued a statement in response to the incident that detailed his attempts to locate his belongings and Vettel reported the theft to local police.
He is in 14th place in the Formula One standings after four races and four points. He finished 11th in the race on Sunday.
The 34-year-old is the third Formula One driver to be robbed in recent times. Lando Norris was mugged outside Wembley Stadium during the Euro 2020 final last July. Charles Leclerc’s watch, valued at $320,000, was stolen in April this year.
