September 13, (THEWILL) – A tanker, laden with fuel, on Monday exploded after it fell around the popular Maidoki roundabout, near PZ industrial Layout, in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

The tanker with registration number YLA 23 XM, according to eyewitnesses, fell while trying to negotiate the roundabout. Many shops and properties caught fire following the explosion.

Though no lives were lost, properties worth millions of Naira, including business centres and fruit stalls located within an 80-metre radius, were destroyed by the inferno.

Operatives of the federal and state fire services, who responded to the distress call battled to put it out while security personnel maintained public order to prevent looting.

The accident also disrupted vehicular movements with traffic around the area.
