Super Falcons’ Plumptre Nominated For WSL Player Of The Month Award

February 22, (THEWILL) – Ashleigh Plumptre of Leicester City Women, is one of the nominees for the English Women’s Super League (WSL) Player of the Month award for February.

The Super Falcons’ star has had a tremendous year. Her transition from the England national team to the Super Falcons was approved last month, and she has put in great performances for both club and nation this month.

Last week, Plumptre made her competitive debut for Nigeria in a 2-0 win over Ivory Coast. In that game, she carried over her excellent club form to the international stage, putting up a strong front to assist the Super Falcons keep their clean sheet.

She has put in tremendous efforts at the club level all season. In her two appearances for Leicester City Women this month, the defender scored one goal and assisted in another.

The shortlist for February’s Women’s Super League Player of the Month was announced, and the 23-year-old defender was honoured for her efforts. Ann-Katrin Berger, Alisha Lehmann, Jess Carter, Ashleigh Neville, and Jemma Purfield are among her competitors for the award.

For the time being, Plumptre is currently on duty with the Super Falcons’ squad and she will be part of the team to face Ivory Coast in the second leg of their AWCON 2022 qualifiers.
