September 18, (THEWILL) – Carmine “Mino” Raiola, Dutch-Italian football agent representing Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, has revealed that there is still a possibility his client returns to Juventus when his contract expires next summer after the 2021/2022 season.
Pogba, who moved from Old Trafford to Juve, made 124 appearances for the Italian giants and won four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and two Supercoppa Italianas before returning to Old Trafford in 2016 for £89.3m, a record transfer at the time.
Speculations surrounding the contract negotiations with the 28-year-old Manchester United star have been rife before the solid transfer business United conducted during this summer transfer season and it convinced pundits that Pogba will choose to stay having been largely impressed by United’s summer recruitment.
However, Raiola thinks differently, claiming that Juve remains wholly an option for the 2018 World Cup winner. The super-agent, whose clients include a number of well known players such as Zlatan Ibrahimović, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Verratti, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Matthijs de Ligt, Erling Haaland, and Mario Balotelli, believes a move is not off the table.
In a recent interview about his Man U client, Raiola said: “Pogba’s contract expires next year. We will talk to Manchester (United) and see. For sure Turin has remained in his heart and he cares a lot about these things. The possibility of returning to Juventus is there but it also depends on Juve.”
If the reports are to be believed Juventus is scarcely the only side involved in trying to recruit Pogba when his contract at Old Trafford runs out. There has always been interest from Real Madrid and, as always when Real indicate interest in a player, Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain is sure to do likewise.
The longer Pogba holds up from extending his stay at United, the more speculations will stretch over the possibility of his exit and the probability of his preferred destination. Already, word is spreading that Pogba is eyeing a move to Real but the Madrid-based club appear focused on prioritising an attacking move for either PSG’s Kylian Mbappe or Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Pogba could still remain at United depending on the progress of contract negotiations and the achievements the current fortified squad can unlock in the season. It is early days but Raiola’s comments have opened up a new set of speculations around the subject of Pogba’s contract.
