BEVERLY HILLS, October 22, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur got off to a winning start in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League, having already won three games in the qualifying series for the main tournament.
They took off in their Group J campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Austrian Bundesliga side Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub, LASK.
Brazilian right winger Lucas Moura put them ahead in the first half before Andres Andrade, LASK’s Panamanian centre back, helped Spurs add a second by accidentally placing the ball into his own net.
Spurs then had to wait until the 84th minute to confirm the win as in-form Korean Son Heung-min fired home from close range to put the game beyond doubt. Jose Mourinho will be pleased with the response of his team following their collapse against West Ham over the weekend.
Tottenham are next in action in the Premier League on Sunday in an away tie against Burnley. LASK, meanwhile, will require a quick turnaround as they host St Polten in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday
