June 30, (THEWILL) – Tottenham and Barcelona have reached a deal for Clement Lenglet to join the London club on a season-long loan.
Spurs had been searching for a left-sided centre-back throughout the transfer window, and after a deal for Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni fell through, they turned to Lenglet. Spurs reached the loan agreement, which is believed to contain an option to purchase when the season is over.
Lenglet agreed to the transfer after being informed by the management at Camp Nou that he could leave, and Spurs have raced to get the player amid interests from both Marseille and Roma to sign him.
Lenglet’s promising career has slowed all the more lately, after a sensational beginning of his time at Barcelona, and the defender ended up making the lineup of just a few La Liga matches since Xavi Hernandez took over as manager and began to mould the squad as he preferred.
After Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Fraser Forster, Lenglet is expected to be the fourth summer signing for Spurs, however the team is also hoping to announce Richarlison’s arrival from Everton.
