July 12, (THEWILL) – Chichi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer, Sound Sultan, who died aged 44 after a battle with cancer, broke down in tears as she fell on his coffin at the cemetery where he was buried in the United States.
Other mourners surrounded the black-clad mother of three, weeping too; the sympathisers managed to raise her from the ground so the final rite for the Jagbanjatis crooner could be concluded.
THEWILL had reported that the singer died after he suffered from lymphoma —a type of cancer that starts in the white blood cells.
The singer’s funeral followed at 9pm on Sunday at the Marlboro Muslim Cemetery in New Jersey.
THEWILL recalls that the Sultan’s career in the entertainment industry began in the 90s when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions.
In 2000, he released his hit single “Mathematics” after he was signed by popular music records, Kennis Music.
Under Kennis Music, the late singer released four albums and he later founded Naija Ninjas with Baba Dee after his contract with Kennis expired in 2007.
In 2009, he married Chichi Morah, his long-time girlfriend, with whom he had three children.
