SAN FRANCISCO, June 01, (THEWILL) – It’s another day and yet another drama in the entertainment industry. This time, it’s news of messy battle between ‘Bend Down Pause’ singer, Runtown (real name Douglas Jack-Agu) and his record label Eric Manny Records owned by billionaire businessman Okwudili Umenyiora.

Apparently they had been at loggerheads for a while and now with sources claiming the label was cheating the singer. “The label has been cheating Runtown of his money, they don’t give him his share of show performances, caller tunes and more but the boy has been keeping quiet about it all along till they threatened him with a lawsuit despite the fact that the label has no structure,” THENETNG gathered.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has now slammed an injunction against Runtown preventing him from performing at any event or any form of recording for the time being without the approval of Ericmany Limited.

The record label which presently holds the copyright to all his music, sued him in the Federal High Court on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label which re[ortedly invested millions on him.

Trouble reportedly started when Runtown allegedly connived with Bug Media ran by one Bugwu Aneto to sideline Ericmany and collect money directly for shows without the knowledge of the label.

Also, the management of Ericmany is said to have sacked the said Bugwu Aneto as General Manager of the company for infractions which might not be unconnected with his alleged connivance with Runtown to shortchange the Label Ericamany.

Bug Media is also a party to the court case.

For now, all inquiries about the artiste and bookings for shows would no longer be through Aneto but through the management of Ericmany.

Meanwhile, Runtown has also responded to the court injunction through his lawyers. Accordint to THE NETNG, the singer got his lawyers to review his record deal and clauses in it which gives him the right to terminate his contract at a court of arbitration.

In the letter, Runtown listed reasons for terminating his contract to include threat to life, extortion and lack of payment/royalties from performances, ringback tunes and more.
