May 01, (THEWILL) – Fleet-footed Super Eagles’ forward, Moses Simon, scored two goals in Nantes’ 2-2 draw with Lens, making him the first Nantes player since Emiliano Sala (2016/17-2018/19) to score 10 or more goals in three consecutive Ligue 1 seasons.

Since joining the Yellow Canaries from Levante in 2019, Moses has been a standout performer. The Nigerian international spent a year on loan with Levante before committing to the Beaujoire on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old recorded five goals and five assists in his rookie season. He had six goals and five assists last season. The Nigerian now has four goals and eight assists on the season after his effort against Lens. This means that he breaks Emiliano Sala’s club record.

Glo

Sala played for Nantes for four years before joining Cardiff City for €17 million in 2019. Sadly, the Argentine international died in a helicopter crash, just days after signing with the Welsh club.

The draw maintains Lens in the race for European qualifying, since they are currently seventh in Ligue 1, while Nantes’ attention is now entirely focused on the Coupe de France final against OGC Nice. The Antoine Kombouare team will be hoping Simon maintains his excellent form in that final next weekend.
