May 25, (THEWILL) – A former Spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation in 2019, Segun Showunmi, on Wednesday, emerged the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary election in Ogun State.
Showunmi emerged the winner with 554 votes against his closest rival, Jimi Lawal, who polled 30 votes, while the other aspirant, Hon Ladi Adebutu, scored 15 votes
Declaring Showunmi as the winner at the election held at Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) Secretariat, Abeokuta, the electoral committee chairman, Abayomi Daniel, said that he emerged the winner because he scored the highest number of votes.
Showunmi, while speaking, thanked the members of the delegates for voting for him as he extended his hands of fellowship to other contestants
“I want to thank our delegates, to thank all and sundry that have worked very well and worked peacefully, I also thank the members of my campaign team, the volunteers, the leadership of the party and the good people of our State that I now emerge as the PDP candidate of Ogun State.”
